I winked at him and that’s how it all began

Here we go…..

After checking his profile (check it out on the blog, it’s public) I kinda liked what I saw (ok, I really liked it :D), and I decided to wink at him (that’s something of a “like” button on FB, we all know what that is). I didn’t know what to say, and I wasn’t sure if I should say something. He wasn’t pretty active on cMatch anyway, so I didn’t set my hopes too high. It was the 16th of November 2010 when I did that… and after a few days, here’s what HE said 🙂

Hey Anta, my name is Scott. I am sorry it took me so long–I haven’t checked my messages on here in a very long time.

I enjoyed reading your profile very much–it’s probably the best I’ve read so far. I believe we have a lot in common, but you say things much more eloquently than I do, haha.

What did you study in college? I studied Religion and English and received my Bachelor’s degree.

I like your pictures as well, but find it interesting that you never show your face. Is that done out of humility or insecurity? I know that’s a bold question, but you said you are straight to the point 😉

I would like to type a longer message, but I have to work soon. I just wanted to respond while I have the chance. My email address is (hidden for security reasons). I will try to check this site more frequently as well. I would like to talk with you more, and I hope you have a great night!

My reply soon followed:

Hi Scott. My name is not Anta 🙂 That’s just a nickname I use for online activity, but feel free to call me that. I just wanted to be honest to you. Don’t apologize for not replying faster, it’s okay. Totally understandable, this site doesn’t present much interest. I am new here, but am really considering to deactivate my account.

I do say things straight to the point 🙂 maybe that’s why my profile is too much for people around here hehehe. I’m joking, l love to laugh, that’s all. Went through your profile again, you seem to have a pretty interesting life. Are you serving as a tech guy in church now, as you mentioned in your profile? (since summer has passed)

I studied Applied Modern Languages, English and French. I am an authorized translator for both languages. Got my BA degree and decided to go for an MA in Canadian Studies. Thankfully to God, I graduated this summer and am now a happy worker 🙂 No more studies for a while. A PhD would be my next step if I don’t get married in the meantime hahahha.

{…} Your question has an answer 🙂 I don’t like to show my face on public sites. I am not the most beautiful girl in the world, but I am fearfully and wonderfully made in His image! I am not interested in guys who value looks more than character, but I’ve not met men who put looks on second place yet 🙂 I think it’s more like “nature” for them. Actually, I am sure it is so. I am still trying to fight nature, therefore my pictures with no face 🙂 And to my total amazement, I did get some “friend requests”, so to say.

Thanks for your email address. I guess that proves you trust me to some level, I wouldn’t give my address to unknown persons. I will keep it, just in case 🙂 If you can’t log in often, that’s fine, though. I know that life can get hectic at times!
Would love to share more with you, though.

Shalom!
Anta

Scott replied to this, but somehow it didn’t get to me. After 6 days I sent a short message asking if he got mine, and here we have his reply:

Hey Anta, sorry again! I typed up a response after I got your last message, but I guess it didn’t send properly. I just checked my sent messages and it didn’t go through. So sorry!

I enjoyed your last message. I am currently serving as the tech guy–it’s been a good but humbling experience. I’m also in the process of becoming a deacon. I’ve always loved learning languages and there are many I would like to learn.

I agree it’s natural for men to value appearance very highly, but there are some of us that value character equally (or at least try to). That’s I’m still single–it’s very hard to find a woman that has both, plus a good personality and that isn’t already in a relationship. I do like that you are still fighting nature, and now I hope to gain your trust enough to see your face one day.

Would you feel comfortable communicating by email or facebook?

Have a great day!

Scott

That explains it. It’s hard sometimes to communicate with a totally unknown person, because what I think as normal might not be normal to you, or my perspective on humor and/or bluntness might differ from yours, therefore my “fear” I might offend.

If finding a woman that has all that you are looking for is hard, finding a godly man with pure heart is even harder 🙂

Well, email is much easier for me too. This is mine (hidden for security reasons). Feel free to drop a line when you find time.

Bless your day in Jesus Name!
Anta

PS: One day you might get to see my face 😉

And finally….

Date: December 5, 2010, 0:00AM

Hey Anta, I sent a message to your gmail account.

I hope I do get to see your face, and I’ll be excited when it happens 🙂

Grace and peace in Christ,

Scott
